Book Review #2 Bad Apple

Bad Apple by Laura Ruby

* * * *

Another 4 star review for this book! Bad apple is a humorous and touching realistic fiction book. It is very relateable but also a bit confusing.

In this book, main character Tola Riley struggles to fit in at her school. She has friends and is even labled as crazy for her attitude, love of fairy tails and her green hair. The one person who seems to be able to understand Tola is her art teacher, Mr. Mymer. He gives her encrouragement in her art, art that no one seems to understand, and even lets her stay in the art room after class. This however turns against him when rumors start to fly that Tola and Mr. Mymer are in a relationship together. Are the rumors true? or is Mr. Mymer about to lose his job for nothing? Will Tola's family support her or go against her?

I loved this book and it was enduring and fun to read. Tola is a very unique girl but relateable in small ways. The only thing holding be back from giving this book that last star is that I found myself very confused at first. this book just around a bit which leaves readers a bit lost, but once we find our bearings we are glad we journeyed on.

Book Review #1 The Goddess Test

The Goddess Test , By Aimee Carter

* * * *

The Goddess Test is about a young girl named Kate living with her dying mother in a new home, the town her mother grew up in. Kate doesn't know anyone at her new school or any of her neighbors. Worst of all her mother isn't expected to live very long.

One day Kate meets a mysterious and attractive man claiming to be Hades, from the legends of Greek gods. Kate believes he is insane until she is soon thrust into the world of gods and goddesses, and forced to take 7 difficult tests, if she succeeds she will be his wife and become a goddess. She cannot even think of failing.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a fun rewrite of the stories of many Greek gods and goddesses. I loved how each god or goddess was incorporated secretly into a character subtly enough for someone to understand who they were meant to be, while still maintaing a bit of mystery. The only thing that held me back from giving this book 5 stars instead of 4 was the opening chapter of this book. I found it to be a little dull and confusing, however the prologue is amazing! Overall the book is fun and exciting and I couldn't put it down. It was a bit difficult to follow at times but well worth the time spent on it! I suggest you read!

Welcome to Bookshelf Freak!

Welcome to Bookshelf Freak. I have decided that I need to start a blog for reviewing and talking about books. I have never had much luck in these things in the past so hopefully this one is lucky. I will be reviewing, rating, and chatting about some of my favorite books. My goal in this blog is to try new books and genres and explore new things within the category of YA books.

Some of my favorites to read are fantasy and romance, however I intend to try many more genres and new authors. So wish me luck and thank you for reading!
